How to review remodeling finish concerns
A mark, gap or uneven surface can raise questions during a remodel. Start with a clear description and the stage of the work, then review the expectation that applies to that specific material and condition.
Capture the concern in context
Take one photo of the whole area and one closer view. Note the location, material, lighting and whether the work is still in progress. Avoid relying only on an extreme close-up that removes the surrounding context.
Use the right reference
Search the resource library for the exact concern. Viewing conditions, measurements, exceptions and responsibilities vary by guideline. There is no single viewing-distance rule that settles every finish question.
Bring a clear list to the walkthrough
Group questions by room and distinguish unfinished work from completed work you want reviewed. Raise leaks, damage or safety concerns promptly; routine finish questions can be organized for the agreed review process.
Questions to bring to your next conversation
- Where is the concern, and when did you notice it?
- Is this work complete or still in progress?
- Which guideline or signed scope applies?
