MYGCNOW CONSTRUCTION HOMEOWNER GUIDES
Understand the stages of a remodeling agreement
A clear agreement helps you understand what is authorized now and what comes later. The resource library explains the supplied templates; your completed, signed agreements and approved changes control your project.
Distinguish the first conversation from paid development
The agreement examples describe an initial complimentary consultation, project development under a design agreement and construction under a separate agreement. Home inspections, existing-report reviews and rendering kits are separate services with their own scope and pricing.
Review the work and the decision points
Discuss inclusions, exclusions, allowances, selections and responsibilities before authorizing work. Identify who approves changes and how price or schedule changes are documented.
Clarify the review and closeout process
Ask how progress reviews, substantial completion, remaining items and final documentation are handled in your agreement. Keep questions tied to the actual signed terms rather than assuming a generic example is your contract.
Questions to bring to your next conversation
- What does this agreement authorize?
- Which decisions and selections are still open?
- How are changes, payment milestones and remaining items recorded?
